Administrative Leadership Team Challenge - Planning for Technology (Team)
Last week, your administrative leadership team determined a plan for involving the community in your school. Now that you have a plan to use your school and community resources to implement your intervention or strategy, you will develop a plan for using technology to achieve that goal. It is important to discuss all aspects of integrating technology, including budgeting, capacity-building, professional development, planning, and scheduling.
In your teams, you will focus on all six of the following areas of the technology plan. These elements should be a part of every school and district technology plan. For the purposes of this assignment, you will address each of these areas only as they specifically relate to your instructional goal. You may choose to use the Technology Planning Template on the right as a guide during your team discussion.
Background, demographics, philosophy

Professional development
Hardware, infrastructure, tech support, software

Monitoring and evaluation of plan’s implementation
Administrative Leadership Team Challenge:
Identify what types of technology resources are necessary to effectively implement your intervention or strategy. Develop a technology plan that addresses the following areas: a description of the technology initiative, the person responsible, the connection to instruction, technology support needs, professional development, budgeting, evaluation, and community involvement.
Considerations / Guidelines:
Prior to your developing a school technology plan it would be helpful to review the work done by others. Individually, take a look at some established technology plans referenced in this week’s readings, and reflect on how these technology plans address all six elements.
Your chosen school may already have a technology plan. If that's the case, use the existing plan as a starting point, but make sure that all six elements are addressed specifically with regard to your instructional goal.
You are not restricted to using the ELC discussion forum for your team challenge, but please be sure to give both your instructor and instructor support access to whatever format you use, and use your team's weekly discussion thread to note where to find the information. Directions
The Facilitator should create a new thread in the team discussion forum entitled Week 6: Planning for Technology.
Review the results of your school's technology survey (see sample on the right).
Use your school's technology survey results and the technology planning guiding questions to guide your team discussion in response to the team challenge.
By midnight Monday, your team should come to consensus on a technology plan to implement your intervention or strategy. The team’s Reporter should post your team’s response in a clearly labeled thread in your team discussion forum.
Next week, you will work independently on the next part of your Administrative Action Plan. Individually, you will be required to develop a technology plan that addresses the six main areas of a technology plan. You will also be required to provide a rationale for your decisions that integrates course concepts, and cite the literature you used to help you make the decisions. The Resource Library is provided to assist you in identifying articles to reference.
